A Basehor couple were injured about 6:35 p.m. Sunday in an accident at 158th Street and U.S. Highway 24-40.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Chevrolet driven by Kristina L. Hinkle, 37, Lee's Summit, Mo., was heading south on 158th Street and failed to yield, pulling out in front of a 1998 Honda Civic driven west by Brian A. Eveland, 16, Tonganoxie.

The two vehicles collided.

Hinkle was not hurt, reports said. But Eveland was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, hospital officials said.

And two passengers in Hinkle's vehicle -- Clyde Grisham, 83, and Betty Grisham, 84, both of Basehor -- were taken to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan., where Dennis Minich of hospital media relations said Wednesday that he could neither confirm nor deny that the Grishams were patients.

According to the highway patrol, it wasn't clear whether Eveland was wearing a seatbelt, but Hinkle and the Grishams were wearing seatbelts.
